EXTREMELY RARE CARPENTER TALLY-HO. A most elaborate pleasure coach that one often associates with the English, but this coach was also a prevalent means of transportation in late 19th and early 20th Century America. The toy firm of Carpenter from Port Chester, New York was renowned for their spectacular toys such as Tally Ho, Burning Building and other horse-drawn toys. This example has a total of 7 passengers/footmen being pulled by galloping horses, 2 white, 1 gray and 1 black. Black light inspection reveals the carriage is mostly in original paint and most notable the front wiffle tree has been repainted. SIZE: 28″. CONDITION: Overall good to very good condition, although black light inspection reveals that figures are in proper paint it is our opinion that they are old repaints or possibly replacements. 1-6002 JL (20,000-40,000) Auction: Advertising, Toy & Doll - Spring 2006 Please Note: All prices include the hammer price plus the buyer’s premium, which is paid by the buyer as part of the purchase price. The prices noted here after the auction are considered unofficial and do not become official until after the 46th day. |
