CLOWN AUTOMATON WITH MAGICAL CHAINS. A fine French Automaton, possibly by Roullet & Decamp. Features a marked “E.D.” open mouth bisque head, painted with clown-like features, bisque hands, and an elaborate silk costume, standing atop a velvet base. When activated, the hat on clown’s head flips from left to right, head turns, and his left hand rises initiating the optical illusion of “cascading chains”. SIZE: 22” t.
