MUSICAL GEOGRAPHY TEACHER AUTOMATON. Circa late 19th Century by Roullet and Decamp. With closed mouth, bisque head incised “Depose Tete Jumeau bte S.G.D.G. 1”. When wound music plays, teacher moves head from side to side, and raises baton in right arm while globe spins. Clothing, table and base covering all original. SIZE: Overall height (including music box) 19” (49 cm) (figure height) 16” (40 cm). CONDITION: Split in silk on right sleeve, minor firing flaw (not cracked) on rear back of head. Music strong.
