EMIL KURTZ (19th Century) ROUNDING A BOSTON LIGHTHOUSE. Large oil on canvas coastal scene shows three large sailboats on wavy sea under large white clouds and blue sky. They travel from right to left and pass before a lighthouse which is atop bluff on left side. Nice sunset colors are reflected in clouds. The lighthouse shown may be either the Boston lighthouse or possibly the Plum Island lighthouse. Signed lower right “Emile Kurtz – Boston”. Housed in a fine 7” wide gilt leaf decorated gesso frame. Partial Boston label on back of stretcher. SIZE: 30” x 50”. CONDITION: Craquelure, very good. 9-25574 (6,000-8,000)
