CURRIER & IVES (Publisher, 19th Century) “PADDLEWHEEL STEAMSHIP MASSACHUSETTS”. Listed in Conningham’s checklist as no. 4688. A large folio lithograph showing the side wheel steamship Massachusetts sailing left to right in green ocean. The legend indicates it is from the Providence and Stonington Steamship Company and ran between New York and Boston via Providence. Housed in a fine reproduction gilt frame with wide watercolor matte. SIGHT SIZE: 23-3/4” x 35”. IMAGE SIZE: 19” x 33-1/2”. CONDITION: Not examined out of frame. Restoration to multiple tears which go into the image. Fair to good. 9-27694 (1,000-1,500)
