FINE MASSACHUSETTS QUEEN ANNE INLAID AND CROSSBANDED BURLED WALNUT & WALNUT HIGHBOY OF GOOD PROPORTIONS, PROBABLY BOSTON. Circa 1760. In two parts, the molded cornice above the cove-molded frieze containing a secret drawer above the upper case fitted with a pair of aligned thumbmolded short drawers over four long graduated drawers on a molded base fitted to the mid-molded lower case. A pair of aligned short drawers above a shallow central drawer flanked by a deep drawer, all drawers crossbanded with matched figured walnut panels, the valanced and scalloped apron with molded edges and acorn pendant finials, raised on bandy cabriole legs with scrolled returns on circular pad feet. SIZE: 76-1/2″ h. x 37-1/2″ overall w. x 33″ case w. x 21-1/2″ d. CONDITION: With nicely cleaned surfaces, the crossbanding and veneers appear old if not original with some minor restorations, the brass hardware later replacements. Some losses to cross-beading on drawer edges, legs and feet with no evident restoration. Backboards appear original. 9-90836 (10,000-16,000)
