ANDREW W. MELROSE (American, 1836-1901) SHIPWRECK OFF DOVER. Large oil on canvas scene shows people salvaging parts off shipwrecked large ship. Large white cliff on right side with fort atop. Cliffs in background on a choppy sea with other sails. Signed lower left with conjoined monogram. Housed in a period gilt gesso decorated frame. Replaced stretcher with cross bracing. SIZE: 22” x 34”. CONDITION: Some inpainting, repair to sky area at left of ship. Otherwise very good. 9-94378 (4,000-6,000)
