F. E. WRIGHT (American, 1849-1891) VENICE HARBOR. Outstanding large oil on canvas colorful scene shows Venice Harbor with colorful sailboats moored and sailing in blue harbor on left side. Large domed buildings beyond. Right side has stone plaza with flower vendors and people lined by tall tile roofed buildings with colorful awnings. Large tower behind. Housed in its original wide fancy frame liner. This artist is known for his portraits. He exhibited at the Boston Art Club in the 1870’s. Signed lower left “F.E. Wright 1889”. Boston canvas stamp to back of canvas. Pencil inscription “Mrs. J. S. Fogg” to back stretcher. SIZE: 28” h x 48” w. CONDITION: Very good. 9-95826 (8,000-10,000)
