FINE SET OF FOUR DELAWARE RIVER VALLEY LADDERBACK CHAIRS. Four shaped graduated ladders. Tapered stiles ending in button finials, rush seats. Front Queen Anne style leg with pad feet. Just below chair rail is a finely turned bulb shaped turning, which is characteristic of Delaware River Valley chairs. Front stretcher has bulbous turning and double box stretcher elsewhere. For similar characteristically styled chairs, refer to the New York State Museum, Albany, NY. SIZE: 36-1/4” h x seat h 18”. CONDITION: Very good. Some evidence of insect damage. 9-96843 (3,250-3,750)
