MELBOURNE HAVELOCK HARDWICK (American, 1857-1916). “KATWIJK VILLAGE”. Watercolor depicts Dutch coastal scene with boats, village and figures in the foreground. Signed in the lower left and titled on the reverse “KATWIJK VILLAGE”. Also a brief write-up of Hardwick together with an image of him, also with original distribution label and penciled is “L.E. KIMBALL NORTHEAST HARBOR MAINE”. Kimball was a turn of the century fashionable gift and furnishing store in the fashionable community of Northeast Harbor, Maine. Framed in silver to gold painted oak frame. Hardwick was born Nova Scotia, Canada and later settled in Massachusetts was a pupil of Triscott, Luiton and Blummers. He was a member of the Boston Art Club and the Boston Society of Watercolor Painters etc. SIZE: 14” x 20”. OVERALL: 24-1/2” w x 18-1/2” h.
