UNIDENTIFIED TENNESSEE KENTUCKY RIFLE. Cal .44 smooth bore. 37-3/4” oct bbl is marked behind the rear sight with indistinct initials. Trigger guard is a flat iron sheet bent in a rectangular shape. The rifle was made without a buttplate or patchbox. The commercial Ashmore lock is attached with one screw and is slightly too small for cavity in the stock. NSN. CONDITION: Rust brown patina with very heavy pitting at the breech and on the lock. There are numerous cracks and breaks on the maple stock with some areas of fill. Ramrod is a replacement. Lock is too loose in the cavity to work properly. 4-50129 X45 (500-800)
