INLAID FOUR DRAWER SLANT LID MAHOGANY CHIPPENDALE DESK. Of Pennsylvania origin, 18th Century. The slant lid desk having four graduated drawers with inlaid escutcheons and line inlay drawer fronts. Original oval brasses. The lid with similar line inlay opens to reveal a ten drawer six cubbyhole and two document drawer interior. Each drawer with decorative line inlay. The cubbyholes with carved sections. The base having a inlaid drop fan at center and short Ogee bracket feet. PROVENANCE: From a fine New Hampshire home. SIZE: 43-1/2” h x 39”w x 20-1/2”d. CONDITION: An old dark finish. The lid, presently not attached, has breaks near hinges and in need of repair at hinge joints. Otherwise good. 9-72774 (2,000-4,000)
