SPENCER MODEL 1865 SADDLE RING CARBINE. Cal .50. 20” round bbl. Made by Burnside Rifle Co., with standard 4-line marking on top of the frame, as well as the 2-line model designation. A tag varnished to the right side of stock reads “Spencer Carbine used in Powder River Indian Expedition July to November 1865.” This is signed but the signature is not readable. SN 4166. CONDITION: Blue/brown patina with light to moderate surface rust. Wood has been cleaned with some trimming to the edge of the paper tag. 4-49068 (5,500-7,500)
