JOHN ROBERTSON REID (Scottish, 1851-1926) “THE MURMUR OF THE SHELL”. Large oil on canvas scene shows dock with several people and boats moored along coastal water with sand dunes beyond. In foreground is young woman and child next to lobster trap and rowboat. She wears a pink shirt and holds a shell to her ear listening to the sounds of the ocean. Signed lower right “John R.
