WILLIAM TROST RICHARDS (American, 1833-1905) “A SAIL IN LIGHT”. Large watercolor has bottom 13-1/2” showing calm seas with light waves reflecting bright sunlight. Top 25” has been sun bleached and only part of the sky remains. A small image of a sailboat is on horizon. Signed lower left “Wm. T. Richards 93”. Housed in its wonderful original gilt wide wood frame. Label affixed to back “A.D. Vorce & Co. Fine Arts, Hartford, Conn.”. SIZE: 38” h x 30-1/2” w. CONDITION: Foxed, toned, loss of sky as noted above. Frame has some bead edge decoration missing. 9-96377 (2,000-4,000)
