PAINTED LEATHER FIRE BUCKET “COLUMBIAN EAGLE FIRE SOCIETY”. The green painted body decorated with a large spread winged eagle having a red, white and blue shield holding a white banner in beak which says “Columbian Eagle Fire Society”. A bottom white banner says “George Darracott”. Date at bottom only partially can be seen but appears to be “1807”. Above top banner in mustard is “No 2”. Red top rim retains one of its metal rings and leather loop. Handle missing. PROVENANCE: Found in Portland, Maine. SIZE: 13″ h to top of rim. CONDITION: Considerable cracking and chipping to paint surface. Paint decoration still can be seen. 9-27862 (1,000-1,500)
