WILLIAM HOWARD YORKE (British, 1847-1921) SCHOONER “ESTRELLA”. Fine oil on canvas ship portrait of the white hulled schooner Estrella. Seen in full sail with three masts sailing right to left. British Ensign off stern with pennant flying over middle mast and other flags. Steam-and-sail ship off stern and two-mast pilot boat “8” off port bow with lighthouse on land. Green sea with white caps. Sunrise type sky with white clouds. Painted legend “Estrella. CAPtn T. L. Rees”. Signed lower left “W.H. Yorke 1891”. Housed in a fine gesso decorated gilt frame.
