EDGAR WHITEFIELD JENNEY (American, 1869-1939) PAIR OF FASHION PORTRAITS. Both similarly housed in gilt oak frames with gilt and watercolor highlighted mattes. One watercolor shows a military officer in full dress standing with sword out. Signed and inscribed inpencil “June 24-1928. General Lieutenant: Comte Fournier Sailovese E. W. Jenney Apres: Antoine Jean Gros”. The second watercolor of a woman with green gown seated in chair with colorful throw. Signed and inscribed “Marie Minnessier Nodier: Edgar W. Jenney April 26-1931-“J Apres Deveria – Epoque Louis Phillipe-1830”. In 1927 Jenney retired to Nantucket where he taught art and painted primarily in watercolor with some of his works reproduced in lithographs. SIGHT SIZE: 16” x 12-1/2”.
