FINE FEDERAL MAHOGANY VANITY. Delicate mahogany vanity, the top with string inlaid circles representing placement for washbowl, etc. The front fitted with a large plum pudding mahogany single panel door, which opens to reveal a shelved compartment. Below a full length dovetailed drawer, the body with flat paneled sides and back. All supported on four delicate federal Sheraton legs terminating in cast brass ball feet. The top is hinged on both sides where originally there were two separate leaves, which closed over the top. When opened, they expanded the working area of the vanity top now missing. Probably American, circa early 19th century. SIZE: 32”h x 17-3/4” w x 17-3/4”d. CONDITION: Small piece of mahogany veneer missing on the top surface. A few scattered surface abrasions, however generally good and appears to retain its original finish. 9-27839 (375-675)
