GEORGE INNESS (American, 1824-1894) “SPRING LAKE, NEW JERSEY”. Oil on canvas scene shows two figures walking along dirt road next to a lake with sailboat lined with trees. Signed lower right “G. Inness 1883”. In pencil on canvas and stretcher is title. Housed in an antique gesso decorated gilt frame with title plaque. SIZE: 10” x 20”. CONDITION: There is a thin canvas patch to reverse which corresponds to a small inpainted area on tree. Thin craquelure in wooded area which appears as white fine craquelure.
