ATTRIBUTED TO JOSEPH WHITING STOCK (American, 1815-1855) PORTRAIT OF PERCY CHASE. Wonderful folk portrait of a young boy seated in a blue dress holding a figural rattle. He wears green shoes and sits atop a gathered red curtain. As a backdrop on his right side is a large marble column with light green and brown background. Housed in its original gilt deep wood frame. Small paper on stretcher indicates sitter. This portrait comes directly from descendants of the Chase Family who were located in Brookline-Boston, Mass area. SIZE: 26-1/2” x 21-1/2”. CONDITION: Painting is untouched, in original condition but has significant craquelure. 9-95466 (10,000-20,000)
