SHARPS & HANKINS ARMY CARBINE. Cal 52. 24” round bbl. No inspector cartouche. There are two plugged holes in the left side of the receiver, the forward one cutting the edge of the Sharps patent marking. This was issued to Corp. Walter F. Budlong of Co. A, 3rd N.Y. Cavalry. This is noted in that company’s order book in the National Archives. There is no note what happened to the carbine when he was promoted to Second Lt. SN 3134. CONDITION: 80% blue on action, mostly brown patina on bbl. Stock has been repaired at the wrist, sanded and refinished. Small chips are missing at the top of the stock next to the action.
