IDENTIFIED SMITH CIVIL WAR CARBINE. Cal .52. 21-1/2” part oct bbl. Made by Mass Arms Co. no saddle ring bar has swivel in butt. A brass tag states that this was issued to John Hawk of Company D of Second West Virginia Cavalry. Consignor misplaced paperwork but this can be obtained through Springfield research. SN 1880. CONDITION: The blow out screw is broken off. Nipple is mashed flat. Action, trigger guard, buttplate, swivel and bbl band are all deeply pitted. Wood has serious chips missing on both ends of the action. Mechanically needs work. 4-49569 X19 (1,000-2,000)
