RILEY WHITING TALL CASED CLOCK. The fabulous Birdseye maple and Curly maple case having a double tombstone top, solid Birdseye maple door, reeded quarter columns and a Curly maple case with beautiful honey brown patina. A simple cut-out base with small molding. The hood having full-round reeded columns with brass capitals, a broken arch crest with reed plinths. Diamond side window. The clock face having original paint decoration with colorful blue flowers at corners and bright colored flowers in crest. The name “R. Whiting, Winchester” in black on gold in center of face upon which there is a seconds dial with red circles in a flower below. Original wood works and strike bell. Pendulum and weights are present. PROVENANCE: A central New York Estate. SIZE: 86-1/2” high x 16” wide x 10” deep. CONDITION: Very good. 9-72139 (5,000-10,000)
