ATTRIBUTED TO WINOLD FRITZ REISS (American, 1886-1953) “CHIEF SITTING BULL SIOUX”. Large watercolor of Indian chief wearing ceremonial costume including colorful headdress, sash and blue neckerchief. It is signed middle left bottom “By Half Moon 1913”. This signature maybe Reiss’s Indian given name. He spent a great deal of time with the Indians and was responsible for painting a large number of these watercolors for the Great Northern Railroad. Unframed but having old matte. SIZE: 21” x 14”. CONDITION: Fold and creases, otherwise very good. 9-95147 (3,000-5,000)
