WONDERFUL ANTIQUE MICMAC DECORATED QUILLWORK SLIPPER CHAIR. This early 19th century French chair decorated with two panels of Micmac quillwork design. The panels obviously made specifically for the chair and the chair with carved French cabriole legs and turned supports. In northern Maine, French missionaries interacted with many of the native Indian tribes. This chair is obviously a collaboration of Indian and French culture. The majority of the quillwork still remains in the back panel. The chair frame with nice old patina. 4-30286 (4,500-6,000)
