EARLY 16TH/17TH CENTURY DECORATED BENTWOOD LOCK BOX. Square box with rounded corners is made of single piece of bent pine. One board bottom and one board top. Iron strap work with large working lock and decorative hardware. Outside of box cover has writing “Canada West” and other writing. Carved pinwheel at center with chipped carved decoration at corners. Underside of top has carved symbols with Indian and “1571 AD”. SIZE: 13″ h x 21″ w x 15″ d. CONDITION: Great patina. Shows lots of wear. Good condition. 9-79963 (2,000-3,000)
