UNSIGNED (American, 19th Century) SALT BOX BY THE HILLSIDE. Oil on canvas new England scene shows a marsh area with haystacks and rowboat. At the end of the base of a cleared hillside is a New England salt box house. The remainder of the hillside is forested. Housed in its original fine gilt gesso decorated frame. PROVENANCE: From an eastern Connecticut Estate. SIZE: 15” x 20”. CONDITION: Consolidation of paint, having wide craquelure and surface dirt. 9-29859 (300-500)
