*JP SAUER & SON COMMERCIAL BOLT ACTION RIFLE. Cal. 30-06. Fine pre-war Mauser action rifle with 24-1/2” tapered oct to round bbl with full length matted rib, high caterpillar front sight, slot blank in the rear dovetail with a cutoff mounted Lyman receiver sight. The bolt is case colored. It is mounted in a 1-pc nicely figured French walnut stock with raised side panels, schnable tipped forearm secured with a single wedge through elliptical German silver escutcheons. It has a lever opening floorplate with double set triggers, a serrated horn buttplate and narrow European sling swivels. SN 191670. CONDITION: Extremely fine, bbl retains 95-97% strong original blue with one small area of very fine pitting. The receiver, trigger guard and floorplate retain most of their original bright, high luster blue with about 1” of bare metal at the front tip of the floorplate. The bolt retains most of its original strong bright case colors slightly faded on the exposed areas. Wood is sound with minor handling and use marks with a slightly chipped toe of the buttplate.
