EARLY CLOCKWORK BLACK DANCER. Ca. 1880s by Browers Automatic Dancers. Outstanding early toy featuring a black figure with composition head, wood body, composition hands and feet, and nappy wool hair. He’s suspended in front of a paper lithographed scene of a backwoods home surrounded by trees. When wound, figure dances a jig. SIZE: 9” t x 6-1/2” w. CONDITION: Paper litho background shows some minor paper loss. Figure’s pants are replaced, otherwise, for the age of this toy it is in very good plus condition. 1-4730 MC (1,500-2,000)
