HENRY THOMAS ALKEN SR. (British, 1785-1851) IN SEARCH OF THE PHEASANT. Outstanding watercolor and graphite scene shows white/tan bird dog standing upright amongst a low bush with fence background which is drawn in pencil. A colorful pheasant hides behind bush, apparently unseen by dog. Signed lower left “H. Alken”. Unframed but housed in a wide ivory matte. SIGHT SIZE: 6-1/4” x 9”.
