FINE PAIR OF MAHOGANY EMPIRE CARD TABLES ATTRIBUTED TO THOMAS NEEDHAM, JR. D-shaped tables with flame mahogany frieze supported by a half spiral and bead band center column with gadrooned edge hub supporting four outstretching scroll legs ending in cup paw feet with brass casters. Nice quality mahogany, unusual to find a matched pair. REFERENCE: For a similar table, see illustration 1060 in Wallace Nuttings Treasure. Also page 1025, figure 11 of Antiques Magazine, May 1979. Table belonging to the Wadsworth Atheneum. PROVENANCE: From the Turpin-Brewer Estate, Boston, MA. SIZE: 29” h x 35” w x 17-1/4” d.
