LARGE ORIENTAL CARVED TWO PIECE IVORY JAR. The base having three ball and claw foot legs carved with Foo Dog faces. The oval body with intricate dragon and lotus carving. Two outstretching carved handles with decorative elements. The tall lid has two serpent heads with open mouths holding ivory rings. The top having a pierced carved naturalistic leaf and rock carving holding two men that are holding a scroll with writing. Jar sits atop a carved wood pierced base. PROVENANCE: From a Belgrade Lakes, Maine home. SIZE: 17-1/2” h x 17” w. CONDITION: There are some open cracks but generally good. 9-27917 (1,000-1,500)
