GEORGE’S BRAND TOBACCO CARDBOARD SIGN Richly illustrated stone lithograph with heralding angels flanking St. George slaying the dragon in the mid-field of the sign, and an aerial factory view in the upper field. Circa 1880’s. Reverse of sign bears original Hatch Lithographic Co. label and “directions for cleaning their patented composition cards”. Lithograph by the Hatch Litho Co. New York for the S. W. Venable & Co., Petersburg, VA. IMAGE SIZE: 22” w x 28” t. CONDITION: Sign generally in very good condition with uniform yellowing and some light flaking to surface varnish. 1-29743 (800-1,200)
