CASED COLT MODEL 1849 POCKET REVOLVER. Cal. 31 Perc. Fine little revolver with 4” oct bbl, 2-line New York address, 5-shot cylinder, silver-plated, brass trigger guard and backstrap with 1-pc walnut grips. Accompanied by a mahogany casing that appears to have been made from an old pencil or silver box. It contains a double-sided small eagle flask and brass two-cavity, Colt’s Patent mold without sprue cutter. Also contains a tin of blue label “GOLDMARK’S” caps. SN 131720. CONDITION: Very fine plus, all matching including the wedge. Bbl retains 50-60% bright blue mixed with flaked patina. The operating handle and rammer pivot retain most of its bright case colors, going dark on the handle. The rammer has turned silver. The frame retains 50-60% original case colors, strong in the sheltered areas, turning silver elsewhere. The hammer nose has light pitting. The cylinder retains 75-80% blue mixed with light patina and has about 93-95% of its original stagecoach hold-up scene. All 5 safety pins are intact. The trigger guard and backstrap retain virtually all their original silver plating with some minor pinpoints of pimpling. The wedge screw is battered and the others show evidence of screwdriver contact. The box has 3 cracks across the lid and a couple on the bottom with most of an old refinish. The flask is extremely fine and the mold appears to be unused but has a number of dents. The cap box has a light stain on the label. Strong bright bore with scattered moderate pitting and one area of deep pitting. 4-50068 (2,000-3,500)
