IVES PREACHER CLOCKWORK TOY. This classic Ives toy from the 1880s shows Preacher is dressed in original clothing (clothing frail and shows signs of deterioration) and standing behind 1/2 round wooden podium giving his lecture to the crowd. His hands are lead, his well molded, comical head with inset glass eyes are made of gutta-percha; he has cast iron legs and stands on original wooden box which hides the clockwork mechanism. Remnants of original paper label on front of box stating “Preacher”. This toy is fresh to the market after having spent many years in the private collection of David Bartels. SIZE: 9″h.
