OUTSTANDING AND IMPORTANT PENNSYLVANIA CALLIGRAPHY BOOK BY JACOB STOPFER. Cover of book has grain painted swirl brown decoration. Inside of cover is written “Jacob Stopfer Fin Ffahr Deb Herten 1759”. First two pages are alpha-numeric calligraphy in color with spectacular writing. Third page starts written text in colorful fraktur type writing in what appears to be German or Dutch. Each page is headed with colorful writing with many lines of text underneath. Last page has the name Jacob Metzel. PROVENANCE: Ex- Collection of General Bangs (Waterville, ME). SIZE: 7-1/2” x 13-1/2”. CONDITION: Shows wear to edge. Pages have some breaks but generally intact. Writing is clear. 9-95158 (2,000-3,000)
