LEMUEL EVERETT WILMARTH (American, 1835-1918) “THE COCK FIGHT”. After a painting by Horace Bonham. Oil on canvas scene shows thirteen men next to wood railing looking on at presumably a cock fight. Painted brick wall in background has framed “Rules” hanging. Wood ceiling above. Fantastic detail to men’s faces and colorful costumes. Signed upper right. Housed in an oak flat frame with gold liner. A photograph of the original stamp on back of canvas indicates it was copied from the original in the Corcoran Galley in Washington D.C. SIZE: 16” x 20”.
