VERY LARGE SHAKER OVAL FIVE-FINGERED BOX. With period painted lid featuring birds of paradise, flowering vines and butterflies. The interior papered with old wallpaper. The surface of the exterior retains old varnish finish. The top fitted with a cut crystal knob. SIZE: 15″l x 11″ w x 6-1/4″h. CONDITION: Generally good. The paint on the lid very early and with some crackling. The box structure is sound; one side may have had a vertical strap attached with some nails (now removed). 9-86180 (1,800-2,800)
