EXTREMELY EARLY 1ST MODEL COLT 51 NAVY REVOLVER. Cal. 36 Perc. First year production with 7-1/2” oct bbl with dovetailed front sight. It has the wedge over the screw. It has the small brass square back trigger guard and backstrap with 1-pc walnut grips. The operating handle catch stud and several screws are replacements. The bottom of the butt is scratched with the initials “VPM”. SN 106. CONDITION: Good, all matching including the wedge. No original finish remains, being a cleaned gray patina with light surface pitting and a couple spots of deeper pitting. The trigger guard and backstrap retain about 10% silver plating in sheltered areas with the balance a medium mustard patina. Grips are sound with a chipped toe and several chips and gouges. The back of the cylinder has been rotated severely under the hammer and is worn to the shape of the hammer nose. Strong dark bore and battered screws. 4-49952 (5,000-8,000)
