UNSIGNED (English, 19th Century) PORTRAIT OF A DISTINGUISHED GENTLEMAN. Oil on canvas portrait shows a man seated in a large chair wearing a fur decorated white, red and gold robe over a black jacket and white shirt. Greenish/black background. Unsigned. Housed in a fine gesso decorated frame. The stretcher marked with labels “Edwinsford Collection 70”. Also a label from “Schillay & Rehs Inc. New York”. Research indicates that Edwinsford is a large residence in South Wales. SIZE: 50” x 40”. CONDITION: Relined, restored with some inpainting. Very good. 9-25531 (1,200-1,600)
