ANTONIO NICOLO GASPARO JACOBSEN (American, 1850-1921) PORTRAIT OF A STEAM POWERED YACHT. Fine oil on board portrait of a two-stack motor yacht with one mast. Bow flies New York Yacht Club flag, large American flag at stern. This boat may be one of the official boats of the New York Yacht Club. There is no name on the boat. Gray color with red bottom of hull. It sails right to left and has eight people on board. One lifeboat is attached to side. What appears to be two chairs and telescope on stern deck. Large canopy covers half of back end. Light blue and green ocean under a blue and cloud scattered sky. Signed lower right “Antonio Jacobsen 1907 31 Palisade Av West Hoboken, NJ”. Housed in its original gilt gesso decorated frame. PROVENANCE: From a fine Maine home. SIZE: 22” x 36”. CONDITION: Very good. Original untouched condition.
