ANTONIO NICOLO GASPARO JACOBSEN (American, 1850-1921) SCHOONER “JAMES T. MAXWELL JR”. Oil on board shows a three-mast black hull schooner sailing right to left in full sail. Five men on deck with one lifeboat seen astern. Name is written on bow and stern. Pennant flag at center mast with US flag and another flanking. Three seagulls fly over a bluish/green wavy ocean. Light blue sky with puffy white clouds. Signed lower right “Antonio Jacobsen 1908 31 Palisade Av. West Hoboken, NY”. Housed in a replacement gilt gesso decorated frame. PROVENANCE: A CT estate.
