WILLIAM PIERCE STUBBS (American, 1842-1909) SHIP PORTRAIT OF THE “GERTRUDE E. SMITH”. Oil on canvas marine scene shows a three-mast black hulled schooner in full sail going left to right. It is passing Owls Head and approaching Rockland harbor. Five figures on board. Each mast with a flag or banner and American flag off back. Housed in a fine gold lined walnut period frame. PROVENANCE: Barridoff Galleries, July 9th, 1983. SIZE: 16” x 24”. CONDITION: Relined, restored with some inpainting. 9-27055 (2,000-4,000)
