ROBERT GWATHMEY (American, 1903-1988)”AUTUMN BOUQUET”. Oil on canvas still life shows a silver water pitcher filled with an arrangement of dried fall flowers amongst oak leaves. Against a bluish background. Signed in one of the bottom leaves in the arrangement. Back of frame is an Everson Museum of Art Syracuse, New York Exhibition label from the “Flowers, Gardens, Bouquets in Art 1979 Exhibition”. Another label is attached to back of backing board from Terry Dintenfass Inc., New York with artist, date and title. Housed in a gilt molded wood frame. SIZE: 36″ x 24″. PROVENANCE: Ex-Robert Lang, Rye, New York Collection. CONDITION: Professionally relined and has a new turnbuckle type stretcher. Very good condition. Under blacklight there is what appears to be a restored vertical slit in the canvas in the background. 9-91115 (15,000-25,000)
