THOMAS SULLY (American, 1783-1872) THE SLEEPING CHILD. Oil on canvas interior scene shows a mother in colorful clothing seated with large dog next to a baby sleeping in a cradle with another dog beside. A fire is seen in the fireplace. A settee and other interior decorations are seen throughout the room. A monogram “TS” is seen on the back of the stretcher in black. Also monogrammed on back of canvas and dated “18?”. There is a black painted number “410E” on stretcher. Unframed. SIZE: 20” x 24”. CONDITION: Loose from stretcher with edges torn, craquelure and one abraded 2” tear to upper left.
