OUTSTANDING BOUND VOLUME OF FIFTY HAND WRITTEN MILITARY CORRESPONDENCE SIGNED AND ANNOTATED BY NAPOLEON BONAPARTE. The bound book with outside jacket “Napoleon Fifty Original Documents Signed by Him 1808-1811” with hard book case. The binding in green leather with tooled Napoleonic decoration in red and gold. On both sides with a fine end with Napoleonic symbols and title. The binding is signed “Bound by Riviere & Son”. Inside of front cover is a tooled red leather page holding a miniature on ivory of a young Napoleon signed SA in monogram and dated 1927. The documents appear to be all military orders and contain signatures and small annotations all signed with initials. The body of the documents appear to be signed by a clerk. The printed paper titled “Rapport Arimee d’ espaque”. Each document with a library stamp marked Bibliotheca Lindesiana. Research indicates that this is the Lindsey Family Library which reached almost 200,000 volumes and was housed in different buildings throughout Lancashire, England. The collection housed a huge volume of Napoleonic items. PROVENANCE: Woolworth Collection. SIZE: 13” x 9-1/2”. CONDITION: Exceptionally fine with a 2” separation in top of binding.
