FRANCIS FROST CO. TIN PAINT SIGN. Extremely rare, embossed sign which uses patriotic symbolism to promote this Niagara Falls, NY manufacturer of waterproof paints. Illustration features Uncle Sam and Naval Admiral appearing together in full dress, being sold on the quality of Frost’s Ark Brand paint, as they stand silhouetted against the admiral’s battleship anchored in the background. Wonderful details of a waterfront warehouse with horse drawn delivery wagon, a nattily attired Victorian family, wooden barrels of paint on the wharf and a majestic mountainous horizon all combine to create a spectacular example of turn of the century advertising.
