HERCULANEUM POTTERY PITCHER: “APOTHEOSIS”. Sacred to the memory of Washington “Ob Dec. A.D. 1799”. Black transfer on a creamware pitcher. Apotheosis is white on black. Other side has large full sail ship, seal of the United States below spout. Gilt trim with stars and outlining. SIZE: 10-3/4” h. CONDITION: Hairline crack running from left side of the spout down the side across from the bottom of the spout. Some scattered gold loss, otherwise very good. 9-95309 (5,000-7,000)
