FORBES CO. (Publisher, 19th Century) PORTRAIT OF THE STEAMSHIP “CITY OF BANGOR”. Large lithograph shows a twin stack steamer going right to left flying American flag off stern and ship flag off front mast. Bow “Boston & Bangor S.S. Co.”. A small lighthouse with sailboats is seen off port bow. Over 100 people are seen on its four decks. Housed in an oak frame with white matte (matte damaged). The Boston and Bangor Steamship Co. ran for 20 years between 1882 and 1902. The side-wheeler “City of Bangor” and its sister ship the side-wheeler “City of Rockland” were replaced by the turbine steamer “Camden” and the “Belfast”. SIGHT SIZE: 24” x 37-3/4”.
